Stockholm, May 28:th - June 1:st 2003

On the last weekend of May, the Swedish Meet celebrated its fifth anniversary. For the first time the meet was held in Stockholm, or more exactly in Bromma just outside of town. Even though we had expected more participants almost 50 Maxers from all over the country turned up during the weekend. Some rode all the way from Belgium, Denmark and the north of Norway. Three Maxers flew in from the UK. The weather was mostly sunny and warm, the food was excellent, the bands, the partying and the riding were all good...

Thursday evening the people start dropping in.

The first night usually is a bit more quiet. Burgers were flipped and the bar was opened.

More people arrived Friday morning. At noon we went for the Friday group ride. The Maxes sped through winding roads over the inland countryside around lake Mälaren.

Back at the camp site a barbecue buffet had been prepared for us. After a day in the saddle a cold beer in the evening sun was more than welcome. People were mingling and checking out the bikes.

After dinner the live band "Heddan & co." entered the stage and the party began. The Bolt cousins, quickly nicknamed "The Moose Brothers", helped out. If they were trying to attract other Moose or the bassplayerette we'll never know.

The next morning we set out for the second group ride. This time up north and then towards the coast over some of the more spectacular biking roads to Vaxholm and Värmdö. After a minor misunderstanding involving a high speed chase of a stray Belgian Maxer :-) we relaxed and had lunch at a lovely seaside café. The ride was rounded off with a tour of downtown Stockholm. Our thundering caravan of Maxes could have escaped no one.

Back at the camp site the barbecue was lit. Our own master chef for the evening, Jens Gran, cooked up a nice dinner for all of us. Add a beer or a glass of red and a warm sunny evening and you get the picture... :-)

Later on, Vmaxer Peter Sjöstedt and his band Uncle Jam entered the stage. I think none of us had suspected he had such a good voice. They served up one classic rock hit after the other. Of course the Bolt Cousins were quickly up there to help out again, calling for moose and trying out all sorts rock'n'roll poses.

When Uncle Jam finished the gig Anders went on stage for the big raffle. Prizes had kindly been donated from Yamaha, Vmaxchat, Knight Batteries and Audi. First prize went to Jon Pullara who, besides the car/bike care products everyone got, had first pick out of the goodies on the prize table and chose a nice winter jacket from Yamaha.
